Non profit organizations often struggle to meet their operating expenses, and we are no different.

 

When you volunteer your time to help the Harwood staff you directly reduce our expenses. Helping our staff is one of the most effective ways that you can benefit our orgnization. Plus you get to work with some great people and support great projects. 

 

There are three basic areas we need help.

 

Mailings - We send out letters and mailings on a regular basis. There is a smaller  monthly mailing for membership renewals. Then, twice a year, we do a larger mailing to raise funds for the organization. This type of support is great for people who would rather sit and not stand, enjoy simpler tasks and prefer smaller groups. You can even work on your own if you like.

 

The gift shop - Our gift shop staff needs someone to come in for short periods of time to support the staff during lunches. These volunteers will be dusting, straightening, chatting with visitors. 

 

Gardening - We generally do several major clean-ups of the garden during the summer. This is a great way to help improve the first impression that visitors have of the Harwood and get in some time in the sun and some physycal activity.

 

Work with the art - We have opportunities for you to work in the protected areas of the museum, where the art is managed by our curatorial staff. We need folks with carpentry skills to help build cases ad shelving. we need someone with good organizational skills to catalog our collection of art books. We also need folks to work as preparetor
